Raised In Captivity - John Wetton 2011

「失うものなどなにもないのさ」そう呟きながら、降りしきる雨の中をひたすら走り続けるウェットン先輩の姿をあのUKの名作に垣間見た時以来、ジョン・ウェットン兄貴をプログレ界の中村雅俊とよんでいたのは私だけだろうか？（そうです。）
そんな彼もアルバムリリース時で62才、Tokyo Tapesでジェネシスの曲を何の違和感もなく魅力的に聞かせてくれたボーカルはまったく衰えていません。今回はストレートなロックンロールがメインで、兄貴の十八番の青春系が少ないのがちょっと残念。それでもドラマチックな展開を見せる曲もあり、ファンの期待に十分答えてくれていると思います。ハケット先生の参加しているのは爽やか系ですね。Genesis Revisitedでの競演以来、すでに15年近くたった２人ですが、Hackwettonもありだよね、と思いたくなるような強力な絆を感じます。

U-Catastrophe - Simon Collins 2008

親父を思い出さずにはいられないですね。オルタナ系のファンにおすすめ、なんて書いてあるのを見かけましたが、声質にマッチしていると思います。私としては"Blood On The Rooftops"や"Eleventh Earl of Mar"あたりを歌ってくれないかな、と思いました。先生はラストの"Fast Forward The Future"という曲で参加しているんですが、これがめちゃくちゃ合うんですね。なんだかジェネシスの幻をみているような不思議な感覚です。また、8曲目の5分の曲ではお父さんとパワフルなドラム・デュエットを聞かせてくれています。紙ケース入り。

DNA is inherited. I can't stop recalling his father and I want him to sing "Blood on the Rooftops" or "Eleventh Earl of Mar".
Steve performs very cool guitar solo on the last track called "Fast Forward The Future" and it sounds perfect with Simon's vocal. It makes me feel strange as if I'm watching phantom of Genesis. Simon plays powerful drums duet with his father on the 8th track.

いつもどおりのジョンの世界が広がっています。６曲目はちょっとJacuzziを思い出しました。ジョンってギターもすごいんですね。(Peter Hackettってだれ？)

This album tells us that he is a good guitar player as well. Track 6 reminds me of Jacuzzi. Really beautiful music. See the photo below for the track information. (Who is Peter Hackett?)

Sipi Emlekkoncert(Benefit Concert) - Djabe 2009 

この２枚組、トータル150分のライブはバンドのオリジナル・メンバーのSipos Andrasの追悼コンサートのようですね。映像をみていないのでわかりませんが、ハケット先生は最初から最後まで参加しているようです。あの独特のトー ンのギターが入ってくると、Jazz/Fusion meets Steve hackettってな感じで非常に興味深いことになっています。また、CD1では約11分のAcoustic guitar medleyで夢見心地の音空間を作り出してくれています。このライブは２枚組のDVDでもリリースされています。

This is 2CD 150 mins live album tributed to Djabe's original member Sipos Andras who died unexpectedly in 2007. Steve seems to be playing whole the concert and the music is the answer to the question if jazz/fusion meets Steve Hackett and really interesting with his unique guitar performance. Steve also plays 11mins fantastic acoustic guitar medley.

さて、どこが違うのか。
まずはカバー、シングルは紙ケースにはいっていて、ちょっとつるっとした感じ。
音の方はというと、 シングル版はアーリー・バージョンというだけあって、アルバム・バージョンのほうがさすがにプロダクションがあがっている感じがします。で、それ以外はというと・・・よくわかりません。そらんじるぐらい聞き込めばわかるかのもしれませんが・・・以上、終了、でした。

I bought a single version which is 500 copies limited but I could not identify the difference. It sounded almost same except the production but  I have listened only once. I want to try again.

Beneath The Waves - Kompendium 2012

KompendiumというのはMagentaのRob Reedのプロジェクトで、ある一人の男と彼の妻子に起きた切なくも悲しい出来事に関しての1902年の新聞記事にインスパイアされたものとなっています。音のほうはケルティックなシンフォニック・ロックといった感じで、同傾向のバンドとしてIonaがあげられるのではないかと思います。メンバーはスティーヴ・ハケットの他、Francis Dunnery, Nick Beggs, B.J.Cole, Mel Collins, Dave Stewartなどそうそうたる顔ぶれで、ハケット先生は１曲で透き通るようなアコースティック・ギターを聞かせくれています。
なお、アルバムはCDとDVD(24/96, DTS, Dolby Digitalの３種類の5.1chサラウンド音源、アルバムの３曲とセッションの映像）との２枚組で18ページのブックレット付き、シングルレコードサイズの豪華版仕様となっています。

Kompendium is a project led by Rob Reed(Magenta) inspired by an article of Irish Express in 1902 about a sad story of a man and his wife and baby. The music is celtic symphonic rock and featuring Francis Dunnery, Nick Beggs, B.J.Cole, Mel Collins, Dave Stewart, etc. Steve plays the acoustic guitar on one track. The album is single record sized deluxe edition containing CD/DVD(24/96, DTS, Dolby Digital plus 3 music and a session videos) with 18 pages booklet.

In The Footsteps Of Attila And Genghis - Djabe 2011

Djabeの最新作についてはすでにとりあげましたが、彼らの音楽はプログレではなく、ちょっとエキゾチックなフュージョンといったほうがあたっています。ちょっとAreaを思い起こさせるような時もあります。
ハケット先生は最近Djabeとの親交が深いようで、この２枚組のライブアルバムでは、ほとんどパーマネント・メンバーかと思うぐらいどっぷりと競演していてます。このアルバムでも、"Firth Of Fifth", "The Stepps", "Last Train To Istanbul", "In That Quiet Earth"などが選曲されていて、ちょっとジャズっぽいアレンジを楽しむことができます。
また、CDはエンハンスド仕様となっていて、CD1, CD2にそれぞれ"Stepps"とペナン・ジャズ・フェスティバルでの"Firth Of Fifth"の映像が収録されています。

Sitting On The Top Of Time - Jim McCarty 2009

Yardbirds, Renaissanceのドラマー、Jim McCartyが2009年にリリースしたアルバム。アコギ、ピアノ、ベース、ドラムスの4ピースにボーカルがメインで、隠し味にRennaissanceをきかせた古き良き哀愁の英国ロックといった趣きです。フルートなどもふんだんに使われていて、70年代、それも前半にタイムスリップしたような、今時なかなか出会えない作品となっていて、英国ファンにはおすすめと思います。ハケット先生が登場する3曲目の"Living From The Inside Out"は約５分のバラードで、中間部とラストで一聴して先生とわかるソロを聞かせてくれています。

The Book Of Bilbo And Gandalf - Malco Lo Muscio 2010

キーボード奏者のMarco Lo Muscioは2008年にスティーブ・ハケットの作品をとりあげた"New Horizons"というアルバムをリリースしていますが、今回はハケット先生の他、John HackettとPar Lindhをゲストに招いてのトータル73分にもおよぶ力作となっています。先生は4曲目で身も心もとろけそうなクラシック・ギターを聞かせてくれています。ああ、もう失禁しそう（失礼！）。

Murco Lo Muscio, who released "New Horizons: The Music of Steve Hackett"  features Steve and John Hackett, Par Lindh for this 73 minutes album. Steve Hackett plays mind blowing sweet classical guitar in the 4th track.

Children Of Another God - Nick Magnus 2010

ハケット先生は７曲目の"The Colony Is King"という約7分の曲に参加しています。この曲にはJohn Hackettもフルートで参加してますが、アルバムにはこの他にPete Hicksも参加しており、期待通りのSteve Hackett Bandっぽいシンフォニック・ロックになっています。

Steve Hackett plays the guitar on the 7th track "The Colony Is King". This album is also featuring John Hackett, Pete Hicks and the music is good symphonic rock in the Steve Hackett Band vein.

JL - Algebra 2009

ハケット先生はJohn Hackettのフルートで幕を開ける1曲目で官能的なソロ披露していますが、曲が2'08"と短いので、あっというまに終わってしまいます。 ですが、そのあと切れ目なしで続く２曲目ではOrmeのAldo Tagliapietraがボーカルで参加しており、個人的にはとても気に入っています。アルバムにはこの他にJohn Hackettが２曲、OsannaのLino Vairettiが１曲に参加しています。

Steve and John Hackett play on the first short track followed seamlessly by the 2nd track sung by Aldo Tagliapietra(ex. Orme).  This album also includes John Hackett on track 16&18 and Lino Vairetti(Osanna) on track 3.

Dirty and Beautiful Volume 1 - Gary Husband 2010

ジャケットにクレジットされている名前を見ると超豪華メンバーが参加しているのがわかります。ハケット先生が参加している8曲目は落ち着いた小品といった趣ですね。

Grace For Drawing - Steven Wilson 2011

Steven Wilsonの2枚組大作。ハケット先生は１枚目の最後の曲に参加しています。
Steven WilsonはGenesisやKing Crimson, ELPなどの5.1chサラウンド化でもすばらしい仕事をしていて、ハケット先生の初期作品もぜひ5.1ch化してもらいたいところですが、非常に残念なことに、あの超名作"Voyage of the Acolyte"と"Spectral Mornings"のマルチチャンネル・マスターがロストしてしまっているとのこと。。。絶句。

Steve Hackett appears on the last track of the CD1 of this outstanding double cd album. Steven Wilson, the founder, lead guitarist, singer and songwriter of progressive rock band Porcupine Tree, also produced 5.1ch surround version of Genesis, King Crimson, ELP, etc. and I expect him to work for Hackett's early albums, however Steve said in his interview that the multi-channel master tapes of "Voyage of the Acolyte" and "Spectral Mornings" were lost.

Down and Up - Djabe 2012

Djabeって何て発音するんでしょう。私はいつも「ドジャベ」ってよんでます。^^;
Djabeの音楽はロックというよりは、コンテンポラリーなフュージョンといった感じで、とてもクオリティーの高いものです。ハケット先生が彼らの作品に参加するのは多分３回目だと思いますが、今回は5曲でクレジットされています。最後の曲ではボーカルもとっていますが、これがなかなかいい感じになっています。CDはエンハンスドCDとなっており、ボーナスで2012年のウィーンのライブでのDark SoupとCamino Royaleのジャズ+プログレ・バージョンが収録されています。

How can I pronounce "Djabe"?  Their music is high quality contemporary fusion rather than prog rock. He plays for 5 numbers and he sings the last track which sounds really nice.  The CD is enhanced cd which includes Dark Soup of 2012 Vienna Live and jazz and prog mixed version of Camino Royale.

A Life Within A Day - Squackett 2012

Because there are so many reviews or sample in the web, I have nothing to say about this CD. A Must!

最初はこのひとことですませていましたが、googleにも引っかかるようになってきたし、これではせっかく来てくれた人に申し訳ないので、もう少し書く事にします。
このアルバムには下のビデオのようにDVDとセットになったエディションがあります。
内容はDVD-Video規格で1.Stereo, 2.Dolby 5.1, 3.DTS 5.1の3つが選択できるようになっているため、これらとCDのきき比べをしてみました。
まず、CDとDVDのStereo版の比較ですが、印象はそれほどかわりません。CDのほうが音域の狭さを補うために、若干高域を強調している感じがするぐらいです。ですが、5.1chサラウンド版と比較すると違いが明確で、5.1chは音場がぐっと広がります(あたりまえですが)。Nick DavisのGenesisの一連の作品ほどではないですが、音の中に包み込まれると自然と気持ちが高揚してきて、一度この感覚を味わってしまうと、他のいろいろな作品も5.1ch化してほしいと願わずにいられません。2と３の違いですが、2はどちらかというと映画など意識した特性をもっているような感じがします。自然な感じで、より音の空間といった面が強調されている感じです。3はどちらかというとオーディオを意識した特性をもっているような気がします。低域が強く、よりインパクトの強い音となっています。5.1chの再生環境をまだもっていない方は購入されることを強くオススメします。

I am talking about the impression comparison about the the following 3 sources in the DVD-Video.
 1. Stereo
 2. Dolby 5.1
 3. DTS 5.1
Stereo is almost same as CD version which is a little bit emphasized to the high sound area. Dolby 5.1 sounds more extensive, spacious and natural which has movie oriented characteristics, IMHO. DTS 5.1 seems to be oriented to music, it emphasizes bass area, and has strong impact. 

Cavalli Cocchi, Lanzetti & Roversi - CCLR  2011

70年代中期PFMのBernardo Lanzettiがボーカルです。ハケット先生は7曲目のGreat Love Does Burn Fastという5'42"でナイロン・ギターを弾いています。また、私の大好きなAldo Tagliapietra(ex.Orme)が参加しているというのもポイントになっています。
Bernardo Lanzetti(ex.PFM) is the singer. Steve Hackett plays the nylon guitar on 7th track named "Great Love Does Burn Fast".  My favorite Aldo Tagliapietra sings track 9 as well.

ハケット先生はGandalfの1992年のGallery Of Dreamsというアルバムに参加していますが、そのリマスターと1992年の2枚のライブを合わせた3枚組。参加曲は下の写真を参照してください。Gandalfのギタートーンがハケット先生に似ていて、区別がつきにくいです。Gandalfは2008年にも2001年にハケット先生がゲスト出演した時のライブをDVD付きで出しています。

Talsete Di Marsantino - L'estate Di San Martino 2012

ハケット先生は５曲目の1'21"というほとんどギターだけの短い曲と11曲目のエンディングのソロを弾いています。このアルバムにはこの他にBancoの Francesco di GiacomoとPFMのChocolate KingsからPasspartuまでのアルバムでボーカルをとったBernardo Lanzettiが参加していますが、全体的に現代的なシンフォニック系のインスト曲を中心とした質の高い演奏を聞かせるため、一聴の価値があると思います。アルバムは限定でDVDがセットになっているエディションも存在しているようです。下は残念ながらハケット先生の曲ではありませんが、バンドの雰囲気は伝わるかと思います。

Steve Hackett plays electric guitar solo on 5th short(1'21") track which is almost guitar only and in the closing section of 11th track. This album also includes Francesco di Giacomo(Banco) and Bernardo Lanzetti(PFM) and plays top notch instrumental oriented music. It is worth a listen. The following is the first track of the album.

Whirld Tour 2010 - Transatlantic 2010

ハケット先生は3CD+2DVDの豪華版ボックスセットのDVD2ボーナストラックの"Return Of the Giant Hogweed"に参加しています。さすがに価格も価格なだけに、これだけのために買う気になれず、未購入。

A Proggy Christmas - The Prog World Orchestra 2012

A Proggy Christmasはニール・モーズのクリスマス・アルバムでハケット先生は1曲目の"Joy To The World"で２番目のギターソロを弾いています。クリスマスアルバムはクリス・スクワイアのアルバムに続いて２回目になりますね。先生は中央付近で晴れ晴れとした表情で写っています。若いですよね。

A Proggy Christmas is a project led by Neal Morse. Steve Hackett plays the guitar solo on track 2.

Prog Exhibition 2 (Il Festival Della Musica Immaginifica) 2011

ハケット先生はDisc2でゴブリンのゲストとして演奏しています。
曲はゴブリンの"Profondo Rosso"と"Improvisation", "Watcher Of The Skies"の3曲で先生は"Profondo Rosso"の途中のソロから登場しているようです。YouTubeのビデオなどでみていると、"Profondo Rosso"の途中で先生が登場するとステージの近くにビデオをもった人たちがワラワラと集まってきてなんか笑えます。
このCDにはこの他にNew TrollsやBalleto di Bronzo+Richard Sinclair, Alti+Mel Collins, Biglietto per L'inferno+Martin Barre(Jethro Tull)など聞き所が大変多くなっています。

Hackett plays "Profondo Rosso", "Improvisation" and "Watcher Of the Skies" with Goblin on Disc 2.
This double CD live album also includes New Trolls, Balleto di Bronzo+Richard Sinclair, Alti+Mel Collins, Biglietto per L'inferno+Martin Barre(Jethro Tull), etc.

The Rome Pro(g)ject 2012

ハケット先生は２曲に参加しています。アルバムの他にシングルがあり、別バージョンが収録されているようですが、購入していません。ちなみにCDはVincenzo RiccaのWebサイトで購入しましたが、Facebookに友達リクエストを送ってきてくれました。何度かメッセージの交換をしましたが、とてもFriendlyな人です。
